FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I don't live in Ontario, can I still participate? We welcome all participants! If you live outside of Ontario, we recommend our Virtual Package, which offers access to the Marion Bradshaw lecture and all the presentations on Saturday, October 19, 2024 via a live Zoom feed.

Will the Symposium presentations be made available to Members after the event? Unfortunately, Symposium content will not be recorded. Only those who participate in person and online* live will have access to the content.

*Virtual (online) package available for Saturday sessions only

Are all Symposium venues accessible? Yes, all presentation venues have been selected with accessibility issues in mind. Those attending the dinner on Saturday evening will be required to walk up a flight of stairs. However, accommodations have been made for those with mobility issues. Also, delegates participating in the Guided Architectural Tour of Hamilton with Bill King and the District Tour of Ottawa Street on Sunday, October 20, should be prepared for a considerable amount of walking.

Will I need to use my own car to travel between venues? Participants will be responsible for travel to and from Hamilton. However, CSDA will provide transportation between venues via coach bus and some venues are a short walking distance from each other.

I would like to stay in Hamilton for the weekend, is accommodation provided? CSDA/CCAD has negotiated preferred rates at Homewood Suites by Hilton (40 Bay Street South, Hamilton, ON L8P 0B3) for Symposium participants wishing to stay overnight. You can reserve a room online with our preferred member rate or contact Darlene at 905-667-5005 for questions about booking your room with Homewood Suites.

I am only available on one of the Symposium days, can I still attend? No problem. We offer daily rates, so participants can tailor the Symposium to their schedule. See our registration form for more details.

What happens if I purchase a registration package and can't attend? CSDA will reimburse registrations purchased prior to September 11, 2024, less a $75 administrative fee. No reimbursements will be issued for either registration or dinner after September 11, 2024. Refunds will not be provided for individuals who do not attend. Substitutes are welcome. *Limited to a maximum of 10 registrations.

I'm not sure whether my CSDA/CCAD Membership is up to date, how can I check? Our online registration process should indicate whether your registration is up-to-date. However, if you would like to verify your Membership status or if you are unsure about whether you are a Member, please feel free to contact us.

I'm not a CSDA/CCAD Member, can I still participate? Of course! All are welcome. We have registration packages available for non-members. However, if you would like to access discounted Member rates for this Symposium along with a host of other benefits, we recommend you become a Member in advance of purchasing a registration package.

I am a CSDA Member, but I can't seem to select the discounted Member Package, how can I access it? If you are booking a ticket after September 6, regular Symposium rates apply. To access both the Early Bird (on or before September 6) and discounted Member package, you must use the email associated with your CSDA membership on the registration form. If your membership is overdue, you will not be able to access the discounted Member rates until your membership has been paid.

Is there a dress code? Please dress for comfort. Those participating in the Sunday architectural tour and district visit should bring a comfortable pair of shoes, as there will be a considerable amount of walking on this day. An umbrella and raincoat are recommended in case of inclement weather.
