OUR LIVING STATEMENT

As a national organization, the Canadian Society of Decorative Arts (CSDA) recognizes that Canada is home to many Indigenous peoples including the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis. We also acknowledge that Turtle Island is home to a diverse community of settlers, descendants of peoples forcibly brought to North America, newcomers, and peoples facing displacement.

The CSDA primarily operates out of Tkaronto/Toronto, Ontario. We recognize that the city is situated on the traditional territory and unceded lands of the Anishnaabe, Haudenosaunee, Huron-Wendat, and Mississaugas of the Credit.

The CSDA holds gratitude for the opportunity to operate and work with many people across Turtle Island. We seek to uplift and uphold the voices and values of Indigenous collaborators in the pursuit of healing and decolonization. We honour the stewardship of the many Indigenous peoples who have resided on these lands and waters since time immemorial.

The Canadian Society of Decorative Arts/ Cercle canadien des arts décoratifs was formed, with the generous support of the Macdonald Stewart Foundation, to provide a forum for all those interested in the decorative arts.
