Modern Collectibles: Trading Cards, Video Games, Comic Books, and Pop Culture with Andrew Winger and Charlene Wang, Moderated by Anthony Wu

Sunday, November 22, 2026, 3:00PM ET via Zoom.

This presentation will introduce us to the rapidly growing world of modern collectibles, exploring categories that are making headlines and setting record prices in today's market. Featured areas include trading cards (Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, baseball, and basketball), vintage video games, comic books, and pop culture memorabilia such as first-generation iPods, early Apple computers, and other iconic technology.

Our presenters will examine what drives demand for these collectibles, why they resonate with younger generations, and how changing tastes are shifting interest away from more traditional collecting categories such as fine art, decorative arts, antiques, and historical artifacts.

Finally, the presentation will take a Canadian perspective by asking whether these collecting trends are as strong in Canada as they are internationally. Examples will include high-profile Canadian collectors such as Kevin O'Leary, and uniquely Canadian collectibles including the Wayne Gretzky rookie card, BlackBerry devices, and other Canadian-made cultural icons.
